The extent of the pandemic ruled out any traditional charitable models of care only.A model founded on home and community based care and empowering the affected and infected people to better take care of them and those around them, had any chance of being sustainable and successful. Leseding Caregivers model is one that starts with an approach to place emphasis on the role of a COMMUNITY CARE GIVER in the care and support of for the sick and vulnerable.
Leseding starts with recruiting community volunteers through community leaders, train them to become care givers, resulting in the formation of a network of well –trained human resources to sustain care for the terminally ill and the vulnerable. Volunteers then continually do home based care of the beneficiaries and refer them to the appropriate hospitals/clinics/social workers as needed.
